Enter the easy ingredient: Condensed French Onion Soup. Not only is it incredibly delicious, but it’s also a HUGE timesaver for a busy weeknight meal. Roast Chicken Thighs with French Onion Gravy is also light on the purse strings as well. Chicken thighs tend to be cheaper than chicken breasts, and they have a great flavor as well. The highlight of this meal though is DEFINITELY the French Onion Gravy. This gravy is so good that it will taste good on practically anything! Eat more french onion soup and Stay Fabulous y’all!

Roast Chicken Thighs

  • lbs chicken thighs
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika

French Onion Gravy

  • 4 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 10½ oz condensed french onion soup
  • 10½ oz water
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • tsp black pepper


Roast Chicken Thighs

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl add the extra virgin olive oil, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and paprika. Stir all ingredients together with a fork or whisk.
  • Add the chicken thighs to the oil/spice mixture. Toss all the chicken so that it is coated with the spice mixture evenly. Transfer the chicken thighs to an aluminum foil lined baking sheet.
  • Roast the chicken thighs in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes*.

French Onion Gravy

  • In a medium saucepan, melt 4 Tbsp butter over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the flour and continuously stir with a whisk for about 5 minutes (until the roux becomes a golden color).
  • Add the condensed French Onion soup and water to the roux. Stir over medium heat for 5-10 minutes until the mixture has thickened. The gravy should easily coat your mixing spoon.
  • Stir in the sour cream and season to taste with additional salt and pepper if desired. Serve the French Onion Gravy over the Roast Chicken Thighs.
